I am a maths student and I have been working on a functional equation for a long time with no fruitful results. I was told by my friend that MATLAB can solve my problem with the functional equation - however complex it might be. Therefore I bought MATLAB R2008b. But I simply don't know any of the syntax. All I want from you guys is to please quote the syntax for solving the following functional equation:
If f'(x)>0 for all real positive x, where f:R+ ---> R and
f(x)+(1/x)=f-1(1/(f(x))),
f-1(1/(f(x)))>0 for all x>0.
I am just a student and I really cannot afford to learn all of MATLAB for using it once. I shall be very glad if you could help me.
